Filling in the Gap: A 2024 Recap and the Road Ahead for Patient Assist VI

As we reach the halfway mark of 2025, we at Patient Assist VI (PAVI) are taking a moment to reflect on the incredible impact made in 2024—and to share how we’ve continued that momentum into this year.

This blog post serves as a recap of 2024 and a heartfelt thank you to the donors, partners, and advocates who make our work possible. We also want to share early 2025 data that shows just how vital our services remain in the Virgin Islands—and why we are preparing to end this year with even greater impact.

2024: A Year of Unwavering Support

In 2024, PAVI proudly spent over $47,000 assisting seniors aged 60 and older at our four partnering pharmacies: Chelsea Drug Store, The Medicine Shoppe, Drug Farm 2, and Kmart. These funds covered critical support such as:

  • Medicare Part D deductibles

  • Medication co-pays

  • Life-saving maintenance drugs for conditions including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and mental illness

Additionally, we allocated approximately $12,000 toward helping uninsured individuals—many of whom are not eligible for public assistance programs. These are working adults, caregivers, and neighbors who simply can’t afford to stay healthy without help.

With your support, we also expanded our reach to St. Croix, launched a Medicare assistance initiative, and solidified partnerships with local physicians and national pharmaceutical programs to ensure no patient falls through the cracks.

2025 So Far: Growing Demand, Growing Impact

Already in 2025, the need for our services has continued to rise—and we’ve risen to meet it.

As of June, PAVI has helped over 101 patients enrolled, with more than $25,000 in direct assistance already spent across the territory. This includes support for:

  • Seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D plans who still face unaffordable costs

  • Uninsured residents navigating chronic illness

  • Individuals recently unemployed or facing financial hardship due to rising living costs

Behind each dollar is a patient who can now breathe easier, knowing their health won’t be compromised by their bank account.

Looking Ahead: $30 for 3 Months Campaign Launching July 9

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved—but the work is far from over.

On July 9th, Chronic Illness Day, we will launch our Pledge to Power Health — $30 to 3 Campaign. This grassroots effort invites you—our community—to sponsor 3 months of life-saving medication for a neighbor in need for just $30. It’s a small act that can mean the difference between health and hardship for someone right here at home.

As we look toward the rest of 2025, our goal is to end the year with even more impact, reaching more patients, expanding services, and continuing to serve as a safety net for those who need it most.

We believe healthcare is a right—not a privilege. And with your help, we’ll continue to stand in the gap for the most vulnerable in our community.

We invite you to stand with us and be a beacon of hope for those in need. Your support can bring light to someone facing impossible choices—between food, rent, or their health. Give what you can. Share the campaign. And help us change lives, one prescription at a time.
